Dictionary is absolutely needed in learning the language. Especially in learning English, for us who speak non native of English, the dictionary should be our friends everyday. If the dictionary has become our daily friend, no need to worry about our inability to be the meaning of the word that we do not know, how pronunciation of the word that we have not mastered or type of words and how to use them in the context of the writings and daily conversations.
